APPLY TO THE SWISS QUALITY CONSULTING

How to Apply

We hire through LinkedIn, and only in reply to an advertised opening. Read this before you apply — it takes four minutes and it is the difference between an interview and a rejection.

Applications are made on LinkedIn, against a specific opening.

Apply through the advertisement itself. We do not accept speculative applications, and a CV sent to us outside an open role will not be read — not as a slight, but because we would have nothing to assess it against.

Where to apply

  • On LinkedIn, through the job advertisement. Open the posting you are answering and apply from there. That is the only route we monitor.
  • Only against an open role. We do not keep a file of speculative CVs, so an unsolicited one has nowhere to go. If nothing is open today, follow the company page and apply when something is.
  • One opening at a time. Applying to every advertisement at once tells us you have not read any of them.
  • No CVs by email, WhatsApp or LinkedIn message. Anything sent outside an application goes unanswered — a poor experience for you and no use to us.

1. Before you apply

Complete every field, in your own hand

  • Type your answers into the LinkedIn application and paste the links it asks for. If you use an autofill tool, that is your business — but reread every field afterwards.
  • No placeholders. A field containing “-”, “NA” or “n/a” reads as an application you did not want to finish.
  • Check that each answer is in the right box. A phone number in the “role” field is the single most common reason we stop reading.

An application submitted without a final read-through is the first thing we learn about how you work.

Professional English

These roles are conducted in English, in writing and on calls, with clients. If you would describe your English as conversational, this is not the right opening for you — and we would rather say so now than after two interviews.

Your LinkedIn profile

Give us the full URL, beginning https://www.linkedin.com/in/ and ending with your profile name. Strip anything after it — no ?utm_source=, no &campaign=. A clean link tells us you checked.

The job ad you are answering

Where the application asks for it, give the original advertisement link without tracking parameters. It should end at .com or .ch, not at &utm_campaign=123. We use it to match you to the right opening.

Answer this role, not any role

Say why this opening, in a sentence or two. A submission that would fit any employer tells us nothing about your fit for this one, and we can always tell.

2. How we set pay

  • We do not ask what you earn now, and it does not affect our offer. The budget comes from our own market research for the role, not from your salary history.
  • The budget is fixed. It is published with the role. We do not go above it, so there is nothing to be gained by applying in order to negotiate past it.
  • The top of the range is not the default. Where you land within it depends on the experience and the contribution you bring.
  • Full-time means roughly 172 hours a month. Part-time positions are available for most roles, with flexible hours.
  • You are paid in Swiss francs or US dollars, by monthly bank transfer.

If the published budget does not work for you, please tell us in your application rather than in the third interview.

3. What working here is like

Fully remote

Work from home or anywhere you work well. No commute — for most of our team that is two hours a day returned to them, and the cost of travelling to an office removed.

Your own hours

You choose when you work. We care about the work landing well and on time, not about when you were at your desk.

Paid in Swiss francs

A stable currency, so your income is insulated from swings in your local one.

We pay for your development

Relevant training and courses are covered by us, including paid ones. Tell us what you want to learn.

Work abroad on occasion

Strong performers may join project work in Europe. Where a visa is needed for that travel, we support the application.

Meetings worth attending

Ours are short, direct and friendly. We take the work seriously and ourselves rather less so.

A workplace that fits your life

Working from your own space means fewer interruptions, meals at home and time near your family — and it removes the commute that keeps many capable people out of the workforce entirely.

Green energy

Our operations run on 100 % renewable electricity, and we back local and remote charity work as part of what the company is for.

Room to grow into

A role may start part-time. Several of our full-time positions began exactly that way.

4. Time tracking — stated plainly

We would rather you read this now than discover it in week one.

  • Everyone on the team, without exception, records billable time using the company’s time-tracking software.
  • While the timer is running, the software periodically captures a screenshot of your screen. It records only while you have started the timer for work you are doing for us.
  • You start it and you stop it. Pause or stop the timer and capture ceases immediately — nothing is recorded, and your computer is entirely your own again.
  • The purpose is accurate client billing and fair reporting across the team. The same rule applies to everyone, founders included.

If this is not something you are comfortable with, we would rather know before you apply than after you join.

5. Preparing for the interview

These are not formalities. An interview that cannot be heard or seen properly is an interview we cannot assess, and we will ask to reschedule.

Join from a computer

A desktop or laptop, not a phone. You will very likely be asked to share your screen and walk us through something you have built.

A connection you trust

Somewhere with a stable link. Avoid public Wi-Fi and anywhere the signal comes and goes.

Somewhere quiet

No cafés, no through-traffic. Arrange the time so that children, pets and housemates are not part of the conversation.

A plain background

Neutral and uncluttered. Avoid sitting with a window behind you — you become a silhouette.

Camera on, throughout

We keep ours on and we ask the same of you. Reading a face is part of how the conversation works.

Light on your face

Light in front of you, not behind. Daylight is best; if you are using lamps, point them at yourself.

Headset or earphones

A laptop’s built-in microphone picks up the room and creates echo. Almost any headset is better.

Have your work to hand

Open the two or three pieces you are proudest of before we start, so you are not searching for them while we wait.
