PRINCE2, or Projects IN Controlled Environments is a certification programme and a structured project management method. It emphasizes dividing projects into manageable and controllable stages.

The themes of PRINCE2 are:

• Business Case which is directly related to the Continued Business Justification. This is where the mechanisms are established to judge whether a project is desirable, viable, and achievable.
• Organization theme is connected to the Defined Roles and Responsibilities where the project’s structure of accountability and responsibilities is defined for the benefit of those who are involved in the project.
• Quality which is linked in different principles, namely Defined Roles and Responsibilities, Focus on Products and Learn from Experience. Its main role is to define the means by which the project will verify that products are fit for purpose, then implement it.
• Plans. Like Quality, they are also linked to many principles. These are: Continued Business Justification, Manage by Stages, Manage by Exception, Defined Roles and Responsibilities, and Learn from Experience. Its use is to facilitate communication and control by defining the means of delivering the products.
• Risk is another theme. Continued Business Justification, Defined Roles and Responsibilities, and Learn from Experience are the principles related to it. This is where uncertainties are identified, assessed, and controlled. Also, this is where the ability of the project to succeed is improved.
• Change is also a theme, where Continued Business Justification, Defined Roles and Responsibilities, and Learn from Experience is also related. Identifying, assessing, and controlling any potential and approved changes to the project baselines are made here.
• Progress theme. This is where monitoring and comparing are made to actual achievements to those planned. This theme is related to principles like Manage By Exception, Manage by Stages, Continued Business Justification, and Learn from Experience.
